Five years ago, Brittany Karimi, CCRN/SCRN, started her nursing career at Broward Health North, where she currently serves as an assistant nurse manager in the neuro and surgical intensive care unit.

Her responsibilities include overseeing nursing staff in her unit, as well as responding to hospital emergencies like code blues, rapid response and stroke alerts.

When asked what she would tell people considering a career in nursing, Karimi shared that it offers the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives, coupled with job security and opportunities for professional growth and specialization.

“I chose to specialize in intensive care because I find it stimulating,” said Karimi. “I love everything about it, from caring for others to working through intellectually challenging situations.”

Karimi is a 2025 Daisy Award recipient and received the 2025 Life Alliance IUC Nurse of the Year Award. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of West Florida.
