October 3, 2024 – Ana Ester, a brave 5-year-old pediatric cancer patient at Broward Health Medical Center, was surprised with a Maltese puppy, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The puppy was brought in from Kansas to bring joy to Ana during her challenging journey.
Ana’s battle began with complaints of stomach pain and noticeable swelling, prompting her parents to seek medical attention at Broward Health Medical Center. A biopsy revealed a mass in her stomach, leading to her diagnosis of stage four metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma.
The Deerfield Beach resident comes to the hospital every week for treatment and is admitted every two weeks for a more aggressive regimen. This special moment was shared in front of her loving pediatric oncology nurses and doctors, who played a crucial role in connecting Ana with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
