Jose Baez-Escudero, M.D., has spent over 20 years dedicated to advancing heart health. He currently serves as the first systemwide chief of cardiology and electrophysiology for the Broward Health Physician Group.

“My goal is to contribute to positioning Broward Health as a leader in cardiology by strategically expanding specialty service lines to better serve our community,” Dr. Baez said.

His vision includes building a team to offer modern electrophysiology services and expand the system’s cardiac care.

A native of Ecuador, Dr. Baez has a rich history of leadership, having served as chairman of cardiology and leading a cardiac fellowship program. He received his medical degree with a Valedictorian Honors Award from Universidad San Francisco de Quito and trained in internal medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia. He completed his cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a second fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Chicago.
