Dr. Michael Schechter, M.D., is a board-certified interventional cardiologist at the Advanced Heart and Vascular Institute in Boca Raton, Florida and on staff at Delray Medical Center. With specialized expertise structural heart disease, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, transcatheter mitral valve repair, ASD closure and left atrial appendage occlusion. Dr. Schechter delivers advanced care to patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.

Dr. Schechter completed his internship in internal medicine from the VA Caribbean Healthcare System in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He continued his post graduate training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for his residency in internal medicine, and fellowships in cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology (coronary, peripheral, structural). He also specializes in cardio-oncology, completing that fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital.

A graduate of the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine, Dr. Schechter also holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and nutrition from Cornell University.

Dr. Schechter also holds an appointment at FAU School of Medicine as visiting Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease.
