The 100,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art medical facility opens January 2023

December 14, 2022 –  Caron Treatment Centers, an internationally recognized nonprofit expert in substance use disorder treatment and recovery, held a sneak-peek and ribbon cutting on Thursday, December 8, 2022, to celebrate  The Keele Medical Center in Delray Beach before the building officially opens in January 2023. More than 200 Caron supporters, leadership, referents and alumni gathered throughout the day to tour the new 100,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art medical facility. Brad Sorte, CEO of Caron Treatment Centers, announced at the event that the nonprofit’s “Open the Door” campaign goal of $30 million for The Keele Medical Center was achieved. The Keele Medical Center is located at 4575 Linton Boulevard, Delray Beach.

“Thank you for the roles each of you played in bringing The Keele Medical Center to fruition,” said Sorte. “None of this would have been possible though without our namesake Kathryn Keele and her generous support to bring this signature building to reality. This project started about 10 years ago as Caron was determined to bring the full continuum of care and services to Florida, including residential detox and our signature Older Adult Program.”

In addition to Ms. Keele, Sorte recognized the “Open the Door” Campaign Chair Cortney Beebe and Vice Chair Robyn Gerry for their philanthropic leadership.

“This building and our expanded programs could not come at a more critical time,” continued Sorte. “What was already a critical problem before the pandemic, addiction exacerbated over the last few years, and we crossed some somber milestones. There have been 1 million lives lost in the past 20 years to addiction. That is more lives lost than every American life lost in all the wars combined. Nobody is outside of the reach of this illness. This program will allow us to do things that many people are struggling to find resources for including co-occurring disorders. We are proud to bring The Keele Medical Center to the community and are excited for not only the impact it will have on our patients, but also on how treatment is performed in this industry.”

The Keele Medical Center is part of Caron Florida’s expansion, which also includes a recently added  standalone Mental Health Program to address the growing need for quality mental health care. Caron Florida will continue to offer signature programming at Caron Renaissance in Boca Raton and Ocean Drive in Delray Beach.

The Keele Medical Center will include a medical detox unit, 40 beds for residential treatment programming including an Older Adult Program, as well as neurocognitive services, research and medical education. It will be staffed with highly credentialed clinicians, physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists and nurses, with specialties that include integrative medicine, internal medicine, addiction medicine and chronic pain.

Caron’s Older Adult Program at The Keele Medical Center will include comprehensive diagnostic assessment, medically managed care, daily health monitoring, substance use and co-occurring mental health disorder treatment, chronic pain management, on-site physical therapy and family support – including therapy and education – that will fill a void in treatment options for this vulnerable population. According to Caron Treatment Centers, of the 55 million older adults in the U.S., approximately 10 percent will need treatment for substance use disorder.

Dedicated to substance use disorder and behavioral healthcare treatment, research, prevention and addiction medicine education, Caron Treatment Centers has been providing substance use disorder and behavioral health treatment services in Florida for almost 20 years and for nearly 70 years at its headquarters in Wernersville, Pennsylvania.

In addition to Caron Florida operations, Caron provides services at its main campus in Wernersville, Pennsylvania, and in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and New York City. Caron provides a full continuum of care that includes prevention, treatment and recovery services. Caron provides specialized treatment programs for young adults, women, men and older adults. Caron’s signature programming provides concierge treatment for executives and older adults. For more information, please visit caron.org or @CaronTreatment.
