Alecia West, MSN, RN, is the Nurse Manager of the Care Coordination Department at Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale. Recognizing the critical importance of safe and appropriate discharges, West transitioned into case management in 2019. Her dedication and leadership propelled her into a supervisory role within two years. Today, West advocates for seamless care transitions, ensuring every patient receives the support they need beyond the hospital walls. As a servant leader, she prioritizes the well-being of patients, families and her team. Her approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration and accountability. West fosters a culture where every voice is valued, and every action is guided by the mission to improve patient outcomes. She empowers her team by promoting professional growth, encouraging innovation and leading by example, always with integrity and purpose. More than 25 years ago, West began her healthcare career as a certified nursing assistant and then as a unit secretary. While working full-time and raising three children with her spouse, West returned to school to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in Illinois. She also holds associate and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from Gwynedd Mercy University in Gwynedd Valley, PA.
