A nurse since 2008, Eleanor Toyloy began her current role as an RN specialist in Memorial’s Utilization Management department in 2019, after previously being in case management at Memorial Hospital West. No longer working directly with patients, she still advocates for them behind the scenes by reviewing charts and clinical documentation connected with their care to ensure it meets the system’s guidelines. An example of this would be evaluating a patient’s hospital stay to ensure it aligns with medical necessity and appropriate level of care.
Toyloy says she counts on clinical judgement and critical thinking developed during a nursing career that included time at the bedside, in home health, and on-site case management to guide her patient advocacy. She then coordinates with the entire team to deliver the high-quality care each individual deserves.
