Lisa Rawlins, director of Quality and Performance Improvement for Broward Health, has been selected by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) to serve on the Health Information Exchange work group for the third year in a row. Rawlins serves as the only Health Information Exchange workgroup member from Florida.

Rawlins joined Broward Health in 2007 and is responsible for developing and managing system-wide quality initiatives and process improvement programs. She has 20 years of experience in the health care industry and has served in various leadership roles within the health care policy-making, regulatory, payer and provider environments, in both public and private sectors. Rawlins has served on various national advisory committees regarding health care quality and health information technology.



Health Foundation of South Florida has elected Loreen M. Chant, Ana Mederos and Claudia Puig to its board of directors.

Loreen M. Chant is president of Johnson & Wales University, North Miami Campus. She is currently vice chair of United Way of Miami-Dade’s Women’s Leadership Council and completed the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Senior Executive Leadership program.

Ana Mederos is the chief executive officer of Palmetto General Hospital. She has broad experience in various types of health care organizations across the country and in a military facility in Central America.

Claudia Puig is senior vice president and southeastern regional manager for Univision Radio. A recognized national broadcast executive with more than twenty years experience in the US Hispanic media market, her accomplishments include being named one of the “50 Most Influential Women in Radio” by Radio Ink Magazine and receiving a Presidential appointment to serve in the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.



Broward Health Chris Evert Children’s Hospital recently named pediatric hospitalist Patricia Rowe-King, M.D., chair of the department of pediatrics, succeeding Rudolph Roskos, M.D.

Dr. Rowe-King started her career as a private practice pediatrician at Suncoast Pediatrics in Fort Lauderdale where she stayed for six years before joining the staff at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital in 1997. In 2006, Dr. Rowe-King was named assistant medical director of Pediatrics at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital. She has also served as chair of the credentialing and qualifications committee at Broward General Medical Center and is an assistant clinical professor at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Rowe-King is also medical director for a medical mission team in the Dominican Republic.



Miami Jewish Home and Hospital has named William “Randy” Holmes Director of Douglas Gardens North. A 25-plus year veteran of the housing management field, Holmes has extensive experience in all facets of multifamily property management. As Director of Douglas Gardens North, Holmes will also serve as Management Agent for the Stanley Axelrod Building of the United Teachers of Dade. He will also oversee the future development of the Douglas Gardens North campus.

Immediately prior to his arrival at Miami Jewish Home and Hospital, Holmes served as Director of Housing Administration and Development for Catholic Charities in Palm Beach County. He previously held similar housing administration positions in Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia, where he served as Director of Housing Administration for Dewar Properties, Inc.



Bethesda Healthcare System is pleased to announce that K. Eva Styperek-Grohmann, M.D., has joined the Bethesda Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Program as a panel physician.

Dr. Styperek-Grohmann is a Board Certified physician on the Medical Staff at Bethesda Memorial Hospital. Specializing in plastic surgery and breast surgery/oncology, she has been in practice in Boynton Beach since 2002.
