Patrick A. Taylor, M.D., MBA, President and CEO of Holy Cross Hospital has decided to leave his position, effective October 30, 2019. Over the past 30 years, Dr. Taylor has been dedicated to serving the Holy Cross community.

"It has been my honor, and I have been blessed, to serve at Holy Cross," said Dr. Taylor. "No words will capture how significant a part of mine and my family’s life Holy Cross has been. I have the deepest gratitude to so many people who have supported me and us along the way. The Sisters of Mercy have left such an indelible mark on my life."
 
Dr. Taylor joined Holy Cross Hospital in 1988 as an emergency medicine physician and served in multiple positions of increasing responsibility such as Executive Director of Medical Affairs for the Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty employed physician group; Vice President of the Medical Group, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Operating Officer of Holy Cross Hospital. In 2010, he became President and CEO.
 
Under Dr. Taylor’s leadership, Holy Cross also launched and completed several new investments to serve the community better. This includes completing the $26 million Moran Challenge (The Jim Moran Heart and Vascular Research Institute); The Phil Smith Neuroscience Institute; Doreen Koenig Blessed Beginnings Maternity Unit; Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center; and the Patricia R. Guerrieri Pavilion. Holy Cross also developed an affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital in clinical areas of oncology, cardiovascular and neurosciences and was recognized as a national leader in orthopedic excellence.
 
Dr. Taylor has been a long-standing supporter of the South Florida community, serving on numerous non-profit Boards: Catholic Health Services; Broward Partnership for the Homeless; Jack and Jill Children’s Center; The Broward Workshop. He has received a number of recognitions including the 2007 Valor Award, American Diabetes Association; the 2010 Leadership Broward Foundation Leader of the Year Award; the 2015 Broward Partnership James J. Blosser Community Trusteeship Award and the 2018 Junior Achievement, Melissa Aiello Character Award.


Doug Strong has been named Interim Chief Executive Officer of Holy Cross Hospital. He will work alongside Patrick Taylor, M.D., MBA, to transition the hospital until Dr. Taylor’s October 30 departure. 

Strong is the former CEO of the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers (now called Michigan Medicine), where he led the system to become nationally known for excellence in quality and safety.
 
Prior to his work in Michigan, Strong held senior executive positions at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, the State University of New York Stony Brook School of Medicine, and the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his MA in history from the University of Pennsylvania, and he received a BA from Franklin and Marshall College.


Jupiter Medical Center announced the appointment of physician leader Amit Rastogi, M.D., MHCM, as Chief Executive Officer of Jupiter Medical Center.

Dr. Rastogi held several executive roles at Yale New Haven Health, serving as Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and interim Chief Executive Officer for the 700-provider clinical enterprise (NEMG). Most recently, Dr. Rastogi served as Senior Vice President of Strategy, Growth and Innovation at Inova Health, VA.
 
Dr. Rastogi is board certified in internal medicine and has more than 15 years of clinical practice experience. He earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He went on to pursue postgraduate work in anesthesiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital – Harvard Medical School and internal medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center – Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Rastogi holds a master’s degree in Healthcare Management from Harvard University and a certificate in Artificial Intelligence from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


As way to take the stress and anxiety out of waiting, Good Samaritan Medical Center’s Breast Institute is now offering same day mammography results for patients who undergo a mammogram.

As part of a comprehensive approach to cancer care, the Good Samaritan Breast Institute is a full-service breast cancer screening and treatment facility within Good Samaritan Medical Center. The Breast Institute offers low-dose screening and diagnostic mammography, breast cancer surgery, stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound, CT scanning, PET-CT, bone densitometry and support groups for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients or patients with advanced breast cancer.


Good Samaritan Medical Center announces Dr. K.C. Cohen as the new Medical Director of Clinical Informatics and Dr. John Rimmer as Medical Director for the Breast Institute. 

In her new role, Dr. Cohen will collaborate with physicians, nursing, and clinical leadership and will train staff as it pertains to the usage of clinical applications. Dr. Cohen is a board certified oncologic and hepatobiliary surgeon specializing in general and oncologic surgery.
 
Dr. Rimmer, will lead the direction and provide strategic, medical, and scientific leadership for the Breast Institute. Dr. Rimmer is a board certified breast surgeon specializing in breast cancer surgical management. Dr. Rimmer has over 30 years of surgical experience in the field of breast health.
 
Dr. Cohen holds a BSA in Biology from the University of Georgia, and earned her M.D. in Allopathic Medicine from American University of the Caribbean.
 
Dr. Rimmer earned his undergraduate degree from Guy’s Hospital Medical School in London, England and his medical degree from King’s College Hospital Medical School in London, England.
