Brian L. Ulery has joined the North Broward Hospital District as Vice President of Physician Services.

Ulery brings 10 years of management experience to his new position. He comes to the North Broward Hospital District from OMNI Healthcare in Melbourne, FL, where he was Chief Administrative Officer. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Heritage Medical Group in Lemoyne, PA and at Bond Clinic in Winter Haven, FL.



Manny Linares, chief executive officer at North Shore Medical Center, recently announced the appointment of Charlotte Dardanello as chief nursing officer.

Dardanello has an extensive background in leadership, clinical performance improvement and regulatory compliance. Most recently, she served as North Shore’s director of nursing and prior to that as director of clinical quality improvement.

Prior to joining the staff at North Shore, Dardanello was vice president of performance improvement at Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus, NJ, and was a cardiac care center analyst & program director for Mount Sinai Medical Center in NY.



The CyberKnife Center of Miami will begin accepting and treating cancer patients requiring radiosurgery on referral from the Bahamas Cancer Center in Nassau.

According to Dr. James G. Schwade, Executive Director of CyberKnife Centers of Miami and Palm Beach, “The CyberKnife Center in Miami while independent, and not affiliated with any hospital works with 150 physicians throughout the world. This is our second official collaboration with a medical facility that treats cancer patients. We are eager to work with any medical facility requiring assistance with radiosurgery treatment.”

The CyberKnife® represents an entirely new approach to radiosurgery. The CyberKnife is not a knife at all, but a sophisticated radiation tool that, like the surgeon’s scalpel, can effectively eradicate tumors and lesions. It can deliver an atomic bomb’s dose of radiation to a very precise target through a laser beam, effectively killing the cancer cells.

Columbia Hospital is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2006 Frist Humanitarian Awards. The Frist Humanitarian Awards recognize one employee and one volunteer at each HCA-affiliated facility who demonstrate extraordinary concern for the welfare and happiness of patients and their community. Michele Delarue, Office Coordinator of the Department of Aquatics and Rehab, was honored because of her many fundraising efforts to help families in need as well as supporting a variety of non-profit charitable organizations.

Irma Jarvis was the Columbia Hospital volunteer selected in recognition of her outstanding dedication and assistance to the hospital’s Center for Breast Care. In addition to volunteering at Columbia Hospital, Irma assists at community health fairs and visits a variety of nursing homes.
