The Lynn Cancer Institute of Boca Raton Community Hospital is pleased to announce that Tim Williams, M.D., medical director of Radiation Oncology, has been elected president of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO).

Dr. Williams has been on the medical staff of Boca Raton Community hospital since August 1989. He will remain medical director of Radiation Oncology during his term.




Catholic Hospice recently celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of their new inpatient care center conveniently located in Hialeah Gardens.

The Catholic Hospice Inpatient Care Center has 13 private rooms where patients can surround themselves with the comforts of home and the people they love while at the same time receiving intensive medical care. The care center is staffed by Catholic Hospice personnel including nurses, physicians, chaplains, social workers, patient care secretaries and volunteers.

Jupiter Medical Center’s (JMC) Medical Staff has elected Jack Waterman, D.O., Board Certified, Nephrologist, as its Chief of Staff. Dr. Waterman will serve a two-year term as the leader of JMC’s medical staff. He will be their representative in the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee and a member of the Board of Trustees.




IOS Health Systems (IOS) is pleased to announce that George Fernandez, an experienced sales executive, has joined IOS Health Systems as Business Development Manager. IOS Health Systems, a Miami-based innovator of web-based electronic medical records and practice management systems. His new role will involve informing and educating the healthcare community of the services offered by IOS and the benefits of the customizable products, including the Medios EHR System.

George Fernandez was recently a commercial real estate associate with NAI Miami, a commercial real estate services company located in Miami, FL. Before working in commercial real estate, George received a Masters in Business from the University of Miami and has worked in various roles at several of the family’s businesses that focus primary on healthcare services such as CAC Florida Medical Centers and Care Plus Health Plans, Inc. He also interned as a Financial Analyst in the business development department for Pediatrix Medical Group, the nations largest public neonatology practice.

George is currently a Mercy Hospital Ambassador, sits on the host committee for the Havana Nights Casino benefit. He and his family have been involved with The United Way of Miami, the University of Miami and various other local nonprofit organizations and schools.




Oakwood Center of the Palm Beaches is proud to announce their CEO, Dr. Linda DePiano, has recently been awarded the Peter Faircloth Memorial Recognition Award from the Comprehensive Alcoholism Rehabilitation Programs (CARP).

Dr. DePiano, who was selected for the award because of her tireless dedication to helping individuals with substance abuse problems, has been with Oakwood Center for 26 years and has, throughout her career, helped to advance mental health issues and awareness through published articles, teaching and trainings. Dr. DePiano is chairperson of the Human Services Coalition of Palm Beach County, serves on the executive committee of the Board of Directors of the Florida Council for Community Mental Health as Board Secretary, a member of the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice, Mental Health, Substance Abuse Planning Council.
