West Boca Medical Center CEO Walt Mickens recently announced that the hospital has acquired the new da Vinci S Surgical System—a computer-enhanced system that puts a computer between the surgeon’s hands and the tips of electromechanically-enhanced, micro instruments.

The innovative, advanced technology enables the surgeon to perform minimally invasive surgery, thereby enabling patients to recover faster and with fewer adverse side effects. Studies show that most patients whose surgery is performed using the daVinci system may benefit from a shorter hospital stay, reduced risk of infection, less blood loss and, in general, a quicker return to normal, daily activities.

Richard Nixon, L.P.N., has been appointed Assistant Vice President Patient Services.
Ginette Cerrud, D.D.S., has been appointed Vice President Dental Services.
Raied (Ray) Sawaged, R.Ph., has been appointed Vice President Pharmacy Services.
Lorraine Valinote has been appointed Director of Executive Services.

     



Golfers teed it up at the 25th Annual Fountains Golf Tournament in February at The Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth to benefit Hospice of Palm Beach County. The event was chaired by Fountains resident Sonny Bilkis. “The Fountains community proudly supports Hospice of Palm Beach County’s belief and mission,” said Sonny Bilkis. “We are pleased to give back to the organization that gives so much to so many.” This year’s tournament, raffle and dinner raised more than $90,000. Hospice of Palm Beach County President and CEO, Dave Fielding, presented plaques to Sonny Bilkis and his wife Eileen, Honorary Chairman Murray Brass, and co-chairpersons Herb Krieger and Don Kaplan in honor of their outstanding service and dedication to the event.

Catholic Health Services proudly announced the promotion of Jaime Gonzalez to Hospital Administrator of St. Catherine’s Rehabilitation Hospital. Jaime Gonzalez has been with Catholic Health Services since 1998 in various capacities, including Community Liaison, Administrator in Training and was promoted to Hospital Administrator of St. Catherine’s Rehabilitation Hospital in February. Gonzalez enters this position with solid experience at St. Catherine’s Rehabilitation Hospital and an impressive medical background. He has a Medical Degree and a MBA in Healthcare Management.



Bonnie Hoot Dutton, B.S.N., has been promoted to Plantation General Hospital’s Director of Pediatric Services. Dutton is a South Florida native and has over 15 years of pediatric and pediatric intensive care nursing experience. She is a nursing graduate of Florida International University and is currently pursuing a dual Masters in Nursing and Education. Dutton previously worked at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood and during her employment there, she developed an accredited Cystic Fibrosis Center affiliated with Memorial Healthcare System. She is very involved with the national Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and annually coordinates an event to raise funds for this disease mainly focusing on children.
