Bethesda Healthcare System is pleased to announce that Barbara J. Dale has been named the new Executive Director of the Bethesda Heart Institute. Dale joins the Bethesda team with more than 20 years of experience as a healthcare leader, most recently as the Executive Director of the Cardiovascular Program at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL. During her time at Holy Cross, Dale was responsible for the leadership, development, and operational management of the Cardiac Service Line.

Dale received her Bachelor of Health Sciences Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Florida. She is a board member for the American Heart Association and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.



Steven P. Rosenberg, M.D., a Board Certified Dermatologist practicing in West Palm Beach since 1980, has been appointed to the Board of Medicine. Dr. Rosenberg said ” I am grateful that Governor Bush has appointed me to the Board of Medicine and I am honored to serve Floridians in this capacity.” Steven Rosenberg, M.D. is President of Palm Beach Dermatology, Inc. He obtained his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 1975 and trained in Internal Medicine in Los Angeles at UCLA-Harbor General Hospital and at Montefiore Hospital in New York. He completed his residency in Dermatology at the University of Miami and was Chief Resident in 1979. He has been Chief of Dermatology at St. Mary’s/ Good Samaritan Hospitals.

Dr. Rosenberg has also been president of the Palm Beach County Dermatology Society and President of the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. Currently he also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Palm Beach County Medical Society, The Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery as well as the Richard David Kahn Melanoma Foundation. Dr. Rosenberg has chaired the Florida Society of Dermatology’s Legislative Committee for the past 12 years. In 1995 Governor Chiles appointed Dr. Rosenberg to the Governor’s Physician Advisory Input Panel on Health Care Issues and in 1997 the Governor appointed him to the State of Florida’s Advisory Panel on Health Care. Awards include Practitioner of the Year from the Florida Society of Dermatology 1993-1994 and the Distinguished Service Award in 1997. Recently he coordinated the passage of a bill requiring greater physician supervision of satellite medical clinics, offices and medical spas. Dr. Rosenberg received the Political Leadership Award from Florida Medical Business in 1998.



Organizers of the 10th Annual Community Fitness Run & Walk in Wellington are hailing the event as a success. A record number of participants, 782 people, either ran or walked the 5K distance through Wellington on Saturday, November 4, 2006. The event raised more than $67,000 to benefit Hospice of Palm Beach County, the nation’s leading provider of hospice care.

Hospice of Palm Beach County’s Board of Directors has elected Michael W. Connors, Esq. as Chairman of the Board. Connors, who practices law in North Palm Beach, has been a member of the Board of Directors of Hospice of Palm Beach County for 18 years.

Connors is board certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in the field of Elder Law. He earned his law degree from the University of Florida in 1986. Connors is a founding member of the Palm Beach County Chapter of the Florida State Guardianship Association. He is past president of the Florida State Guardianship Association, Inc. Connors has been a volunteer with the Area Agency on Aging Palm Beach/Treasure Coast, Inc., Hope House, Inc., and the Alzheimer’s Community Care Association, Inc. The balance of the board includes David Ralicki (Vice Chairman/Treasurer), Phil D. O’Connell, Jr., Esq. (Secretary), David C. Fielding, Judith Giuffrida, Dave McCoy, and Judy Mitchell. Honorary Life Members are John J. Brogan, Mrs. Philip Hulitar, and Mrs. Robert L. Messic.



Gerald B. Healy, M.D., FACS, an otolaryngologist from Boston, MA, was recently named President-Elect of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Dr. Healy is the Gerald B. Healy Chair in Otolaryngology and professor of otology and laryngology at Harvard Medical School, and the otolaryngologist-in-chief, at Children’s Hospital, in Boston.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1977, Dr. Healy has been actively involved in the governance of the College, including serving as a member of the College’s Board of Regents since 1997 and as Chair from 2005 to 2006. Dr. Healy was the first otolaryngologist to serve in that capacity. He was Vice-Chair of the Board of Regents from 2003 to 2005, Chair of the Regents Finance Committee from 2005 to 2006, Chair of the Regents Executive Committee from 2005 to 2006, and served as Chair of the Member Services Liaison Committee of the Board of Regents (2003-2005). Dr. Healy has also served as a member (1999-present) and Chair (2000-04) of the Regents Central Judiciary Committee, a member of the Nominating Committee (2000-01), and a member of the Honors Committee (1999-present).

Furthermore, he has been Chair of (1995-98) and Board of Governors representative to (1991-96) the ACS Advisory Council for Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Healy also served as President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American College of Surgeons from 1997 to 1998.
