Cardiologist Vianka Perez, D.O., recently joined Tenet Florida Physician Services (TFPS) and opened her practice in an established TFPS cardiology office located on the campus of Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah. Dr. Perez specializes in general cardiology including preventative cardiovascular medicine, women’s heart health, structural heart imaging, valvular and structural heart disease, heart failure medicine and advanced echocardiography.

Dr. Perez joins TFPS after serving as Chief Fellow in the Cardiovascular Fellowship program at Palmetto General Hospital. Prior to completing her cardiovascular fellowship, Dr. Perez completed an internal medicine residency where she also served as chief resident at Palmetto General Hospital and Nova Southeastern University. She graduated medical school from the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Perez received the A. Alvin Grever, D.O. Cardiology Award in 2014 from the medical school.


A virtual ribbon-cutting event officially welcomed a new, convenient option for the residents of Broward County with the opening of Baptist Health’s wellness and medical complex in Plantation. The new 112,000-square-foot facility, located at 1228 South Pine Island Road, just north of I-595, is an addition to the healthcare landscape in central Broward County.

Individuals living and working in Plantation and the surrounding communities now have access to a full range of integrated health and wellness services – including urgent care, primary care, endocrinology, cardiology, cancer care, orthopedics, spine care and more – all under one roof.
 
Orthopedic and physical therapy services were the first to open to patients, followed by urgent care, diagnostic imaging, primary care and endocrinology. All services will be open to care for patients by mid-January.
 


Endocrinologist Heberto Valdes, M.D., has joined Baptist Health South Florida.

Dr. Valdes joined Baptist Health from Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale. In addition to treating patients, Dr. Valdes is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine. He has also participated in several endocrinology clinical trials, led presentations for the Endocrine Society and American College of Physicians.
 
Dr. Valdes earned his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and completed an internal medicine residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Flushing, New York. He then completed a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.


Jupiter Medical Center has named Patti Patrick as Vice President and Chief Strategy and Growth Officer.

Patrick has over 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership positions where she led numerous service line growth initiatives and the recruitment of many highly specialized physicians for the development of centers of excellence in neurosciences, orthopedics and pediatrics. Prior to joining Jupiter Medical Center, Patrick was chief strategy officer at St. Mary’s Medical Center and the Palm Beach Children’s Hospital in West Palm Beach.
 
Patrick received her Bachelor of Science in accounting from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. She has served on numerous community boards and healthcare committees in Palm Beach County, including the Board of Governors for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the Board of Directors for the West Palm Beach Library Foundation.


MorseLife Health System has promoted Carolyn Carter, OTR/L, to the newly created position of chair of its Parkinson’s disease therapy program.

Carter joined MorseLife in 2005 and most recently served as lead therapist at MorseLife Short-term Rehabilitation. The Royal Palm Beach resident has more than 25 years of occupational therapy experience treating patients in multiple care settings including skilled nursing facilities, outpatient therapy, sub- acute rehab and pediatric school-based therapy. Immediately prior to joining MorseLife, she served as contract West Area occupational therapist for the School District of Palm Beach County. 
 
Licensed and registered in occupational therapy, Carter received a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Barry University.
