Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital welcomes neurosurgeon Juan Uribe Villa, M.D.

Dr. Uribe is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, and the World Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. His professional interests include functional and stereotactic neurosurgery, deep brain stimulation and gamma knife stereotactic radiosurgery.
 
Dr. Uribe developed the Deep Brain Stimulation Program and the Neurosurgery Functional and Stereotactic Service at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. While there, he also served as the neurosurgical liaison to the trauma committee.
 
Dr. Uribe earned his doctorate of medicine from Universidad CES in Medellin, Colombia. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and his functional and stereotactic neurosurgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.


Tenet Florida Physician Services (TFPS) congratulates Fernando Bayron, M.D., FACS, for recently completing his 2,000 robotic surgery case, an exemplary feat in general surgery care. Dr. Bayron performs robotic-assisted abdominal procedures using the da Vinci XI Surgical System by Intuitive at Florida Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Bayron is a proctor for surgeons training on the da Vinci Surgical System, and Florida Medical Center is an Intuitive approved epicenter visit site.
 
“The robotically assisted surgical system is an instrument we use to perform general surgery cases and also a 3D computer interface console between the surgeon and patient. Robotic surgery technology helps to correct any human limitations in regards to movement and visualization including an augmented reality where contrast, colors and organs are easier to conceptualize,” said Dr. Bayron.
 
Dr. Bayron performs numerous general surgery procedures robotically with the da Vinci XI Surgical System including inguinal and ventral hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery, reflux surgery and colon resection surgery. Additionally, Dr. Bayron uses the robotic surgical system for gastric sleeve, gastric bypass and revisional bariatric surgery procedures.


Jupiter Medical Center welcomes Arthur Katz, M.D., as the medical director of cardiac surgery at the Robson Heart & Vascular Institute and Timothy and Jayne Donahue Cardiac Surgery Program at Jupiter Medical Center.

Dr. Katz graduated with honors from New York Medical College and completed his residency in general surgery at NYU Medical Center. Following his residency, he remained at NYU Medical Center for a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Katz is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
 
Prior to joining Jupiter Medical Center, Dr. Katz worked as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and Boca Raton Regional Hospital.


Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital welcomes board-certified interventional cardiologist Carlos Andres Gonzalez Lengua, M.D.

Dr. Gonzalez earned his doctorate of medicine from Universidad National de Colombia School of Medicine. He completed fellowships in Cardiac CT/MRI at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai Beth Israel hospitals and a structural heart disease fellowship at New York University School of Medicine (NYU Langone medical center).
 
Prior to joining Indian River Hospital, Dr. Gonzalez has served as an attending physician at NYU Langone Medical Center and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital.
 


Gary Shifrin, M.D., FACC, has joined Mount Sinai Heart New York in Palm Beach to provide general and preventative cardiovascular care to patients in West Palm Beach. Dr. Shifrin is a board-certified clinical cardiologist who has been caring for the people of Palm Beach County since 1988.

Prior to joining Mount Sinai Heart NY Palm Beach, he worked at Cleveland Clinic Florida and helped establish their Wellington office. Dr. Shifrin was an Affiliated Assistant Clinical Professor of the Miller School of Medicine of the University of Miami. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association. Dr. Shifrin is a member of the Council of Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association and has served on the Board of Directors of the Palm Beach County Chapter.
 
In addition, he served as a Counselor for the Florida Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Shifrin received his undergraduate and Master of Science degrees from Northwestern University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his medical degree at State University of New York, Health Sciences Center, in Brooklyn. He then completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He received his Fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
