Family medicine physician Douglas Inciarte, M.D., has been named program director of the West Kendall Baptist Hospital – Florida International University Family Medicine Residency program.

Dr. Inciarte comes to Baptist Health South Florida from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), where he served as the family medicine clinic director and was associate professor of family medicine. A graduate of the medical school of Universidad del Zulia, Venezuela, Dr. Inciarte completed a family medicine residency at UNMC, where he also served as chief resident. In addition, he holds a master’s degree in medical management from The Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University.
 
Since 2011, Dr. Inciarte served as the director for the UNMC College of Medicine’s clerkship program and has been a preceptor for medical students and nurse practitioners. He has been published in numerous medical journals and authored and served as editor of medical textbook chapters and sections. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Association for Physician Leadership.


Javier Hernández-Lichtl has been named Chief Executive Officer of Doctors Hospital and Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute. The seasoned healthcare leader currently serves as CEO of West Kendall Baptist Hospital. He will succeed Nelson Lazo, who has been named CEO of Baptist Health’s Bethesda Hospital East and Bethesda Hospital West.

Almost a decade ago, Hernández-Lichtl assembled and led the team that opened West Kendall Baptist Hospital, Miami-Dade County’s first new hospital in more than 35 years. Under his leadership, the hospital has become both a community hub and a center for innovation earning national accolades for quality, safety and service.
 
Hernández-Lichtl began his career with Baptist Health as an administrative resident. In addition to his leadership at West Kendall Baptist Hospital, he has also served as CEO of Baptist Outpatient Services and Baptist Health Enterprises, Chief Administrative Officer of Baptist Health and CEO of South Miami Hospital.
 
Hernández-Lichtl’s dedication to the South Florida community extends beyond healthcare delivery to the education and the arts. He currently serves on the Board of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and Florida International University’s Frost Art Museum. He previously served on the United Way of Miami-Dade Board, the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board and the Adrienne Arsht Center Board. In addition, he chaired the Florida Sterling Council and Miami International University of Art & Design Board.
 


On Nov. 20, Broward Health celebrated the dedication of one of its valued team members during the monthly meeting of the North Broward Hospital District. Jon Guben, M.D., is board certified in diagnostic radiology and has been with healthcare system for 30 years.

He attended medical school at University of Dominica (Ross University), completed his residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown and had a fellowship at University Hospital/Boston City Hospital.
 
During the presentation, Broward Health Medical Center leadership acknowledged that the healthcare The Broward Health team and greater community have been fortunate to benefit from Guben’s expertise for three decades. Guben’s connection to Broward Health actually goes back further than his start date. He was born at their largest hospital, now known as Broward Health Medical Center.
 


Nearly 200 children, parents, grandparents, hospital staff and Glades community leaders attended the 10th anniversary celebration of Lakeside Medical Center on November 9. In addition to music, food and fun activities, participants also received tips about staying healthy from the hospital’s medical staff.

Attendees were also given tours of the newly opened Belle Glade Clinic at Lakeside Medical Center. One of ten C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics in Palm Beach County, the Belle Glade Clinic has 12 exam rooms and six dental suites. The clinic provides medical, dental, pharmacy and behavioral health services for adults and children. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, the clinic serves all patients, regardless of ability to pay, and offers a sliding fee scale.

Northwest Medical Center is excited to announce that it has expanded its Pediatric Emergency Room. 

Growing to meet the needs of the community, the Pediatric ER has expanded from a 5-bed pediatric area to a dedicated and secure 12-bed unit, providing special care to the pediatric population.  
 
Caring for 12,000 pediatric patients annually, this much needed expansion will allow Northwest Medical Center to serve even more of the communities’ tiniest patients.
 
“The expansion is much needed for our community and allows our patients to have pediatric care close to home,” said Ann Marie Font, M.D., Pediatric Medical Director at Northwest Medical Center.
 
Continuing to reinvest in the community, Northwest Medical Center has completed the expansion of its brand-new patient tower, offering Maternity and Medical/Surgical services and is looking forward to expanding its Level III NICU in 2020.
