November 21, 2024 – Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC), an affiliate of Broward Health, received a heartwarming delivery of toys from Forever Family and Toys for Tots. The donations filled an entire moving truck which were transported from Orlando. The toy haul was so large that Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue assisted in unloading four pallets of toys for special needs pediatric patients.
“This generous donation will brighten the holidays for countless children in our care,” said Ana Calderon Randazzo, executive director at Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center. “We are grateful to Forever Family and Toys for Tots for their incredible support and commitment to spreading holiday cheer.”
The donations received at CDTC were:
- 350 Fortnite Nerf Guns
- 600+ board games
- 8,000 Mr. Potato Head “sweet tots”
In addition to being distributed to Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center patients, many of the toys will be distributed to pediatric patients at Broward Health Medical Center during the highly anticipated “Operation Toy Drop” event in December. During this event, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue’s Technical Rescue Team dresses in Christmas costumes and rappels down the walls of Broward Health’s flagship hospital to deliver gifts to children spending the holiday season in the hospital.
