February 5, 2024 – Chirag Choudhary, MD, MBA has been selected to be Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital effective March 1, 2024. He most recently worked as an ICU intensivist at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus in Ohio and had leadership roles in critical care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Choudhary’s impressive background includes 15 years of dedicated service in healthcare leadership at Cleveland Clinic. He served as Chief Medical Officer of Euclid Hospital in 2022. Additionally, his leadership positions at Cleveland Clinic include Director of Critical Care for the Ohio East Region from 2018 to 2022; Associate Medical Director of ICU Operations for Ohio and Florida from 2016 to 2022; Medical Director of Respiratory Therapy at Marymount Hospital from 2013-2018; Medical Director of the ICU at Marymount Hospital from 2013-2018.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Choudhary led ICU operations and successfully standardized critical care practices across hospitals in Ohio and Florida. As co-chair of Cleveland Clinic’s Enterprise Sepsis Steering Committee, Dr. Choudhary coordinated and standardized sepsis care across all locations to decrease sepsis-related mortality.

Dr. Choudhary earned his medical degree from Mysore University in India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and his fellowship in pulmonary critical care at Cleveland Clinic. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University.
He succeeds Bernardo Obeso, MD, interim Vice President and Chief Medical Officer since Oct. 1, 2023. Dr. Obeso will continue his role as a hospitalist at Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital.
Dr. Choudhary joins a leadership team that has guided Cleveland Clinic Florida’s five hospitals through unprecedented growth to serve their communities. Tradition Hospital is part of Cleveland Clinic Martin Health which also includes Martin North and Martin South hospitals. The other Cleveland Clinic Florida facilities are Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital.
