Selected nonprofit will receive $50,000 and promotional and volunteer support in 2025 to expand access to mental health and well-being programming
September 24, 2024- Citizens announced today the expansion of its signature Champions in Action grant program to Miami and South Florida. Aimed at recognizing and supporting local nonprofits who are driving impact in their communities, this round’s Champions in Action grant will award $50,000 and volunteer support to an organization focused on improving access to mental health and well-being programming. Nonprofits who are delivering and advocating for mental health and well-being services and resources needed to help people achieve their potential are encouraged to apply.
“We couldn’t be more excited to expand our Champions in Action program to South Florida and recognize the local nonprofit organizations making an impact in our community,” said Jim Weiss, President of Citizens Florida. “At Citizens, we understand that mental health and well-being are critical determinants of one’s success, and we’re looking forward to uplifting valuable nonprofits who are committed to delivering access, education and awareness in the mental health and well-being space.”
Applications can be completed online at www.citizensbank.com/champions and must be submitted by September 27, 2024.
To be eligible for consideration, an organization must:
- Be a Florida-based nonprofit organization serving Miami and South Florida that provides direct access to mental health services and resources; delivers education and advocacy around mental health and well-being; is actively working to remove barriers to adequate care for the populations they serve; and/or is working to address root causes of mental illness via programming.
- Have a total operating budget between $250,000 and $5 million.
- Be able to provide 1 – 2 volunteer projects, including at least one skills-based volunteer project, for Citizens colleagues to engage in.
This is the bank’s first formal grant program to launch in Florida.
