City of Doral Councilwoman Maureen Porras, Founder of A Safe Haven For Newborns Nick Silverio, and City of Doral Vice-Mayor Oscar Puig
Vice-Mayor Oscar Puig, on behalf of the entire City of Doral Council, delivered a proclamation declaring May 9th as A Safe Haven For Newborns Day in the City of Doral. This significant establishment honors the legacy of Nick Silverio, the founder of A Safe Haven For Newborns, and aims to raise awareness about the critical importance of preventing infant abandonment and supporting mothers in need.
The establishment of A Safe Haven For Newborns Day serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to ensure the well-being of vulnerable newborns and their families. It is an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate the organization’s achievements, and commit to supporting this vital cause.
A Safe Haven For Newborns is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization dedicated to ending infant abandonment. In a 23-year partnership with the hospitals, fire stations, and EMS, A Safe Haven For Newborns is making a positive impact and saving two lives, the mother’s and the infant. All services are provided at no cost to the expectant mother while protecting her right to privacy.
