Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital is proud to welcome Antonio R. Polanco, M.D., a board-certified and highly skilled surgeon specializing in heart transplantation, mechanical assist devices and complex adult cardiothoracic surgery.

Dr. Polanco earned his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. He then completed an integrated cardiothoracic surgery residency at Columbia University Medical Center and a fellowship in mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation at Washington University.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital, Dr. Polanco elevated the Johns Hopkins Hospital heart transplant program to one of the top 15 heart transplant centers in the country. He performed the hospital’s first DCD heart transplant and has pioneered work to increase ischemic times for donors, going as far as 2,000 miles to retrieve donor hearts. He also played a key role in growing the Hopkins ECMO program to one of the highest volume programs in the country.
