November 29, 2022 — With extensive experience providing strategic guidance and operational management for health care organizations, Dana Begley has been selected to serve as Lee Health’s new vice president of wellness and recovery. She is a health care leader in acute and post-acute care.

In her new role, Begley will help develop Lee Health’s strategic and operational approach to wellness, home health services, skilled nursing units/skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation services, and play an active role in the newly formed relationship with Encompass Health.

Begley will also engage with hospice agencies, community skilled nursing facilities and home health agencies to form relationships, partnerships and establish processes that better facilitate and coordinate the continued excellent care of our patients.

“Dana will elevate Lee Health’s commitment to wellness in the community. She has a proven track record of growing and expanding a health care system’s footprint of post-acute and wellness services and she is ready to make a difference. I look forward to all that she’s going to accomplish in this role,” said Dr. Scott Nygaard, Lee Health’s chief operating officer.

Begley comes to Lee Health from LifePoint Health in Brentwood, Tennessee, where she previously served as the vice president of post-acute operations, vice president of service line operations and development and most recently, as a quality clinical operations consultant.

Some career accomplishments include implementing service lines for behavioral health, oncology, dialysis services and wound care; creating enterprise-wide initiatives to reduce outmigration, lower readmissions and increase access to care; creating a team approach to post-acute referrals to reduce the burden on case managers, and orchestrating the opening of a  39 bed long-term acute care hospital (LTAC).

Begley earned her Bachelor of Arts from Dickinson College and her Master of Health Care Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

She began her role with Lee Health in late October.
