November 7, 2023 – Delray Medical Center announced today it has achieved numerous five-star ratings for specialty care, according to new research released by Healthgrades, a leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor. Delray Medical Center has achieved Five-Star ratings in the areas of Cardiac, Neurosciences, Pulmonary, Gastrointestinal and Critical Care. These achievements reflect Delray Medical Center’s commitment to consistently delivering the best care possible and places the organization in the upper echelon of hospitals for specialty care nationwide.

Five of the awards are new in 2024, including four in Cardiac care.

  • Five-Star Recipient for Valve Surgery new in 2024
  • Five-Star Recipient for Coronary Interventional Procedures new in 2024
  • Five-Star Recipient for Treatment of Heart Attack new in 2024
  • Five-Star Recipient for Defibrillator Procedures new in 2024
  • Five-Star Recipient for Treatment of Heart Failure for 22 Years in a Row (2003-2024)

“We are absolutely thrilled to have received multiple five-star awards from Healthgrades in 2024. At Delray Medical Center, we are dedicated to providing outstanding healthcare and improving the lives of our patients,” said Daniel Listi, Delray Medical Center CEO. “These accolades reflect our commitment to excellence and the hard work of our remarkable team. We are honored and motivated to continue setting the standard for high-quality care.”

Healthgrades evaluates hospitals solely on clinical outcomes: risk-adjusted mortality and complications. By focusing on what matters most–patient outcomes–Healthgrades ratings provide critical feedback for both patients and hospitals. By offering easy access to objective performance measures, Healthgrades gives consumers the information they need to find a hospital that excels in providing the care they need. And, by shining a light on strengths and weaknesses, Healthgrades ratings help direct hospitals to opportunities for clinical improvement.  The 2024 hospital assessment evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 35 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify the top performers.

The 2024 Healthgrades analysis revealed that the variation in performance between five-star and one-star hospitals continues to widen, making it increasingly important to seek care at top-rated programs. From 2020 through 2022, if all hospitals as a group performed similarly to five-star hospitals, on average, 215,667 lives could potentially have been saved, and 149,521 patients could have avoided potential complications.*

“Healthgrades congratulates Delray Medical Center for being a national leader and demonstrating a deep commitment to providing high quality care to all patients,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “As health systems nationwide endeavor to elevate their quality of care, these elite facilities provide a roadmap for success. We commend Delray Medical Center for their dedication to excellence in patient care.”
