The DCMA recently celebrated their 2023 Presidential Inauguration, during which Dr. Rafael J. Fernandez, Jr., Immediate Past President, announced the Association’s achievements during his presidency, 2022-2023.
During his farewell speech, Dr. Fernandez mentioned that the DCMA has accomplished the following goals: launched of the Physician Wellness Program; a record of 71 submissions in the Resident and Medical Students Research Competition; a $13,000 donation to the Lee County Medical Society for Hurricane Ian relief; the participation of the DCMA Delegation in Tallahassee meeting with 24 legislative representatives in defense of physicians, patients and organized medicine in general, among others.
Dr. Fernandez commented, “I’m proud to be part of the DCMA, not only as a member but as President for an organization that today celebrates 120 years of promoting quality medical care and advocacy to benefit the patients and physicians of this community”.
He also said that the DCMA had reached more physicians and others within the healthcare industry thru Continuing Medical Education programming and increased membership in DCMA.
Dr. Fernandez thanked those who have contributed their time and resources during his presidency, including the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and the staff.
