Dr. William Stanton has joined the medical staff at Indian River Medical Center (IRMC). Dr. Stanton is a board certified Orthopedic Surgeon with more than two decades of experience in orthopedic surgery. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the Society of Military Surgeons.
Dr. Stanton had a distinguished military career in the U.S. Army. After graduating from West Point in 1985, he served as a Combat Engineer officer before attending medical school. After he completed Orthopedic training in the military, he again served on active duty as an Orthopaedic surgeon until completion of his obligation in 2003. He returned as a member of the Army Reserve from 2006 to 2015 and completed several tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan where he served as an orthopedic trauma surgeon. He retired from the military in 2015 with the rank of Colonel.
