Lina Sarmiento is an Emergency Department nurse at Broward Health Medical Center with more than 25 years of experience in healthcare.
For Sarmiento, the Emergency Department is more than a workplace; it is her life’s mission.
“I’m part of a great collaborative team with the mission to support our community by delivering safe, compassionate and high-quality care,” Sarmiento said. “Making a positive impact on patients’ lives is very motivating.”
Her role includes rapid triage, critical patient assessment and emergency interventions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
“I love helping others, especially in their most vulnerable moments,” Sarmiento said. “Being calm, knowledgeable and a fast thinker can truly make a positive impact in someone’s life.”
Originally from Colombia, Sarmiento first graduated from medical school in her home country before moving to South Florida, where she earned her nursing degree through Broward College. During a student rotation, she quickly realized that the emergency room was where she belonged.
