With 36 years in emergency medicine, Jennifer Dunn, MSN, RN, has built a leadership philosophy rooted in communication, empathy and teamwork. As Director of Emergency Services at Memorial Hospital Pembroke and Memorial Healthcare System Red Road ER (opening June 2026), Dunn says a deeply personal experience shaped her path into nursing after her father survived a cardiac arrest while traveling for work.
Though grateful for the lifesaving care he received, Dunn remembers the fear, uncertainty and rush of emotions her family experienced while waiting hours for updates.
“It taught me that patients and families may not remember every procedure or technology, but they always remember human compassion and how we made them feel,” Dunn said.
Dunn remains passionate about mentoring future leaders and supporting teams that bring strength, bravery and heart to patients during difficult moments.
“Patients instinctively know our staff cares deeply, and it’s an honor to witness every day,” she added.
