The latest contribution to the Miami Jewish Home & Hospital from Dorothy (Dottie) and Arthur (Art) Apple is the Center Apple Arts & Crafts Center, located in the Hazel Cypen Tower. Throughout the years, the Apple family has demonstrated its commitment to the Home in both financial contributions and “sweat equity.” The Apples dedicated the Center in honor of their three children-Larry, Jeff and Lisa, a delightful reverse of the generation-to-generation mandate.

Dottie and Art Apple

This unique activity Center allows seniors who reside as assisted living tenants on the campus the opportunity to explore their creative side by partaking in a variety of arts programs. The quality of their lives is enhanced because of their experience in the Apple Arts & Crafts Center. Not only do residents get a chance to socialize while at the Center, but they get the satisfaction of accomplishing a project, exercising their creativity, learning new skills and taking pride in the results of their efforts. Whether it is ceramics, beadwork, weaving or painting, no one wants to miss a class at the Center.
