June 6, 2023 – Florida Blue, the state’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan, recently announced the addition of three, veteran health care executives to the South Florida team as market leaders to support the diverse needs of members and businesses in the region.

Each Market Leader will develop, lead and execute a hyper-local strategy for Florida Blue that includes sales, products, analytics, provider networks, care management, as well as local marketing and community relations.

In South Florida:

  • Market Leader Alvaro “Al” Molina will oversee Miami-Dade & Monroe Counties
  • Market Leader Jacinda “Cindy” Jackson will be responsible for Broward County
  • Market Leader Juan Awad will oversee Palm Beach, Martin, St Lucie, Okeechobee and Indian River Counties (Treasure Coast)

With a focus in these areas, the three will continue Florida Blue’s many business and community relationships while extending the regional team’s reach and impact, neighborhood-by-neighborhood.

Alvaro “Al” Molina began his career as a Respiratory therapist, working for Baptist Hospital and many local hospitals. In 1996, he launched a ventilator case management company where he worked with managed care companies. He ran the company until 2016 when he transitioned to Kindred Healthcare Managed Care where he became Executive Fellow and eventually CEO in 2019. In 2022 he was promoted to Market CEO for the hospitals in Coral Gables, Hollywood, and North Florida Kindred in Jacksonville. A Miami native, Molina attended Florida International University and graduated from the University of Miami with an Executive MBA.

 

 

Jacinda “Cindy” Jackson is a health care leader whose career expands across industry leaders like Eli Lilly & Company and most recently Kindred Healthcare. During her nine years with Kindred, Cindy successfully held six growth positions and recently concluded as Market Chief Executive Officer of Kindred Hospitals and Acute Rehabilitation Units – Fort. Lauderdale and The Palm Beaches. She actively serves on the American Lung Association Board, American Heart Association Board, American Hospital Association’s Region 4 Policy Board and the NSU Levan Ambassadors Board. She also is a member of Florida Hospital Association’s Workforce Committee, Fort Lauderdale’s Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. She has a Master of Business & Administration from Florida A&M University.

 

 

Juan Awad brings more than 20 years of health care experience to Florida Blue. He most recently served as a hospital CEO for Ochsner Health, a leading integrated healthcare system in Louisiana. He spent most of his leadership and professional career at Baptist Health South Florida where he held several leadership roles. He began his career there as an Administrative Fellow. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in health services administration from Florida International University. He also completed Executive Education – Dynamic Management training at Fuqua School of Business of Duke University. He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and served for many years as a board member of the South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum, a local chapter of ACHE.
