The Florida Heart Research Institute (FHRI) is proud to announce that Tori Gabriel, MBA-HA, FHRI’s Director of Education and Prevention, received an award for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in the “individual” category at Florida International University’s Paths of Public Health Awards Luncheon. Gabriel was nominated for this award by Col. Brodes Hartley Jr., President/CEO of Community Health of South Florida. The award is given annually by FIU’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health in an effort to recognize individuals and organizations for their contributions and commitment to promoting and protecting the health of the South Florida community.

As the Director of Education and Prevention, Gabriel develops and manages various programs designed to prevent or reduce risks for debilitating and costly chronic diseases. Gabriel started FHRI’s Free Cardiovascular Risk Factor Screening Program in 2001 in an effort to identify those at risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes and obesity before they suffer a life threatening event.
