The Florida Medical Association recently installed Miami VA Healthcare System Chief of Staff Vincent A. DeGennaro, M.D., as its 136th President.

 

Dr. DeGennaro is recognized as a dedicated surgeon and a humanitarian who regularly travels to Haiti’s impoverished central plateau to provide residents with badly needed surgical care. When a devastating earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, Dr. DeGennaro spearheaded the FMA Foundation’s “Help for Haiti” initiative to provide medical supplies and relief. For his service to the medical profession and the public, he received the FMA’s Certificate of Merit, which is the organization’s highest honor.

 

In addition to his FMA service, Dr. DeGennaro is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Past President of the Broward County Medical Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of Project Medishare for Haiti.
