Good Samaritan Recognized for Orthopedics, Outpatient Care, Neurosciences and GI Care from Healthgrades

November 11, 2025 – Good Samaritan Medical Center announces today that it has placed among the top 5% of hospitals in the country for outpatient orthopedic surgery, earning the excellence award for the second year in a row from Healthgrades, one of the nation’s leading sites Americans use when searching for a doctor or hospital.

Good Samaritan earned seven accolades from Healthgrades including five-star treatment for stroke, five-star for upper gastrointestinal surgeries, five-star recipient for outpatient total hip replacement and five-star recipient for outpatient back and neck surgery (except spinal fusion) for the 2nd year in a row.  In addition to being named in the top 5% in the nation for outpatient orthopedic surgery excellence award, Good Sam was also named in the top 10% in the nation for outpatient orthopedic surgery for the 2nd year in a row.

“We are patient first at Good Sam, and earning these accolades reinforces our commitment to the patient,” said Sheri Montgomery, Good Samaritan Medical Center’s CEO. “This would not be possible without our caring staff earning the patient’s trust. Every member of our team plays a vital role in ensuring our patients get the best possible care so they can get back to doing what they love.”

Good Sam’s achievements are based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. Each year, Healthgrades evaluates risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for over 30 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify the top hospitals in key specialty areas, including orthopedics, gastrointestinal surgery and outpatient care. Through easy-to-understand, objective measures of hospital performance, Healthgrades empowers patients with the information they need to find a hospital that excels in their procedure or condition.

As performance gaps persist between the nation’s highest- and lowest-achieving facilities, seeking care at a top program has never been more important. Healthgrades’ 2026 analysis revealed that if all hospitals, as a group, performed similarly to five-star hospitals during the 2022-2024 study period, on average, 230,466 lives could have been saved and 156,797 complications could have been avoided.*

“Healthgrades’ specialty awards identify the nation’s top-performing hospitals in key service areas, helping consumers find high quality care tailored to their specific needs,” said Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades. “We’re proud to recognize Good Sam for its consistently superior outcomes in key service areas, including orthopedics, gastrointestinal surgery and outpatient care.”
