Pernas, who has been with Tenet Healthcare since 1989 and recently transferred to Florida Medical Center, has been appointed Lab Director.

Governor Charlie Crist has named five appointees to the Board of Athletic Training. Among the five named was George L. Caldwell, M.D., orthopedic surgeon, with Broward Health Physician Group and head team physician for the Miami Dolphins and team physician for the Florida Marlins. Caldwell will serve on the board from June 24, 2008 to October 31, 2011.

Caldwell is also the Co-Director of Sports Medicine at Broward Health Broward General Medical Center and is a member of several professional organizations including the NFL Team Physicians Society, Major League Baseball Physicians and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
