History was recently made in Broward County when ground was broken to pave the way for the first Transplant House medical facility in Broward County dedicated to the recovery of organ transplant patients.

The special house, affiliated with the University of Miami and Broward Health, is located near Broward General Medical Center for the important services needed for the family and the patient. This facility will provide a friendly and safe haven where patients and their families can comfortably reside during the months of pre-and post- transplant treatment.

The nearly 9,000-square-foot facility will provide 16 recovery suites, a library, break room, meditation garden, laundry room, outside sitting areas, a lounge area, TV room, and computer room. The original Transplant House, which opened in July of 2002, is located on the UM/Jackson Memorial Hospital grounds and is run and operated by the Transplant Foundation.
