August 17, 2026 – HCA Florida Mercy Hospital has named Courtney Gibbons as its new chief operating officer, effective today.
Gibbons brings experience in hospital operations, service line growth, capital project management and cross-functional performance improvement across HCA Healthcare. In her new role, she will work closely with HCA Florida Mercy Hospital’s leadership team, physicians and colleagues to support daily operations and advance key priorities that help meet the needs of patients and the community.

Most recently, Gibbons served as vice president of operations at HCA Healthcare’s Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, where she provided administrative oversight for several key operational areas, including endoscopy services, non-invasive cardiovascular services, laboratory services, rehabilitation services, security and emergency management. She also supported initiatives focused on care coordination, patient retention, operating room optimization, service line growth, emergency management and major facility construction and capital projects.
Before joining Chippenham Hospital, Gibbons served as vice president of operations and co-ethics and compliance officer at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, where she supported oncology service line strategy, imaging center growth, ambulatory real estate planning, capital investments and a $119 million facility expansion. She also previously held leadership roles at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital and Wilson Medical Center, building experience across hospital operations, emergency management, service line development, patient access and care coordination.
Gibbons earned a Master of Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Science in health services administration from James Madison University.
Gibbons replaces Jessica Miller, who was promoted to chief executive officer of HCA Florida JFK North Hospital in West Palm Beach.
