March 29 2022 – HCA Florida Northwest Hospital today announced the appointments of Alan MacGill, DPM, FACFAS and Nora Powell, PhD, to its board of trustees.

Dr. MacGill is a board-certified podiatric surgeon specializing in foot surgery as well as reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. In addition to his new role as a board member for the hospital, he serves as the Program Director for the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery residency program at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, an organization with more than 8,000 board-certified foot and ankle surgeon members.

“I am honored to be appointed to the board of trustees at Northwest and am excited to continue advocating for the best interest of our patients, our colleagues and our community in this additional capacity,” said Dr. MacGill. “We recently adopted a new name as we came together with more than 450 care locations under the HCA Florida Healthcare brand, and the facility continues to grow and improve to meet the needs of those we are fortunate to serve. I look forward to having a hand in leading this team during this exciting time.”

Dr. Nora Powell serves as Dean of Health Sciences on Broward College’s North Campus and oversees 14 allied health science programs including Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Radiography, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Care, and Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound. She oversees Broward College’s on-campus vision care and dental clinics, which provide low-cost healthcare opportunities to the community and educational experiences for students.

“It is a privilege to be appointed to the Board of Trustees at Northwest,” said Dr. Powell. “The collaboration between education and healthcare is critical for the future of the health professions, and I look forward to serving.”

“We are thrilled to welcome these two dynamic individuals who are experts in their respective fields, and will bring unique and important perspectives to the table as our hospital’s newest board members,” said Kenneth Jones, chief executive officer at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital. “Dr. MacGill has established himself at Northwest as not only a physician who puts what is best for the patient above all else, but also as a leader invested in training and building the physician workforce through our growing graduate medical education program.”

“Dr. Powell brings new and welcome insights to our board as someone who is intimately involved in the education and engagement of future healthcare workers through her work at Broward College,” said Jones. “Her work demonstrates her alignment with our mission: above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life; as well as our community impact focus on increasing opportunity and access to healthcare careers.”
