September 30, 2024 – HCA Florida Ocala Hospital announced today the appointment of Dave MacIntyre, DO, FACOS, as the new chief medical officer at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, effective immediately.
Dr. MacIntyre has more than 20 years of experience as an acute care and trauma surgeon. He graduated from Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri and completed a general surgery residency at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital before completing fellowships in trauma surgery and surgical critical cCare from the University of Nevada and bariatric surgery from the University of Missouri- Columbia.
Dr. MacIntyre was serving as a trauma surgeon on Oct. 1, 2017, when Las Vegas experienced a catastrophic mass shooting. That night, he and his team prioritized bed- flow process and use of intensive care units for 124 gunshot wounds. The hospital staff performed 58 surgeries within the first 24 hours and 83 total surgeries as a result of the mass casualty event.
His work during the Las Vegas shooting earned him the Surgical Triage Award from HCA Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Dr. MacIntyre is currently completing his MBA degree in the Physician Executive MBA program at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He has extensive training in tactical combat casualty care, burn and wound reconstructive surgery, and robotic surgery.
