November 2, 2022 – HCA Florida University Hospital, a 165-bed facility, and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in the state, celebrated the 162nd birthday of Girls Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low with a special patient gift. Members of Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida troop 19920 Atikah Service donated a gift basket for the first baby girl born on October 31, Low’s birthday.
Maya Briceno was born on Monday, October 31, 2022, at 1:25 p.m. to Yulia Mindubaeva and weighed 7 lbs., 9 oz.
“Feels great, feels special,” said mom Yulia Mindubaeva. “Of course Maya is going to be a Girl Scout.”
The gift basket included diapers, wipes, rattles, books, teethers, baby-safe plush animals, and a “future girl scout” pink onesie.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA in such a fun and memorable way for our patients,” said Ellice Martinez, assistant vice president of community engagement at HCA Healthcare’s East Florida Division. “The HCA Healthcare Foundation has a long history of partnering with Girl Scouts, and recently announced a $1.38 million grant over the next three years to Girl Scouts to create a series of workshops aimed at addressing mental wellness among girls.”
Low was born on October 31, 1960, and founded the GSUSA in 1912 in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia. The first troop was made up of 18 girls who all shared a sense of curiosity and a belief that they could do anything.
