August 30, 2022 – HCA Florida University Hospital, a 165-bed facility, and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in the state, officially opens its helipad for use.
The 3,025 square-foot helipad is located on the roof of the hospital, which opened in mid-November 2021. The air ambulance landing pad also has a dedicated elevator for efficiently transporting patients during life-saving situations.
“During an emergency, every second counts,” said HCA Florida University Hospital CEO Madeline Nava. “By significantly reducing transfer times, we’re adding valuable time to saving lives.”
As of August 19, 2022, the helipad is fully operational and ready to accept and transport patients as needed. The opening of the helipad follows the near completion of the hospital’s 100,000-square-foot medical offices. Future plans for the 330,000-square-foot hospital include adding six additional floors and growing to 600 beds.
