August 29, 2024 – This month, HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital celebrated 50 years of service to the Northwest Broward community with a celebration attended by community leaders, physicians, and hospital colleagues being honored for their tenure.

“On August 4, 1974, HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital opened its doors to the West Broward community as University Community Hospital, a then 209-bed facility with 130 employees and a bright future of opportunity ahead. Today, Woodmont Hospital has touched hundreds of thousands of lives and continues to progress forward as the largest employer in the city of Tamarac with over 900 colleagues dedicated to the same mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.”
Mead also shared progress on the hospital’s campus enhancement project with a $40M investment from HCA Healthcare, which will include the construction of a cardiac catheterization lab.
Key speakers also included HCA Healthcare’s East Florida Division President, Charles Gressle, City of Tamarac Mayor, Michelle J. Gomez, Medical Executive Committee Chief of Staff, Dr. Christopher Troiano, and Emergency Department Medical Director, Dr. Kenneth Greenberg.
The evening wrapped with a tribute presented by members of Florida State Representative Dan Daley’s staff.
