NAMI Broward County’s mission is to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. Through free education, support groups, and signature programs like NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group, NAMI Peer-to-Peer, and NAMI Family-to-Family, NAMI Broward helps people build strength, find community, and reclaim hope, offering essential tools for those living with a mental health condition or supporting a loved one.
This May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, NAMI Broward will host its 4th Annual Artful Minds Fundraiser on Thursday, May 29th at MAD Arts in Dania Beach. Artful Minds is a celebration of “art as therapy,” sparking conversations around mental health and wellness while inspiring hope through creativity. Early Bird tickets are $40 through May 21 and increase to $50 thereafter. Proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorships, and artwork benefit NAMI Broward’s expanding programs.
Another way NAMI Broward is changing the conversation is through NAMI Nights – In Our Own Voice, held on the second and third Tuesdays of each month at the Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center. These moving evenings combine live music with raw, honest storytelling, bringing empathy and understanding to the forefront of the mental health movement. Free and open to the public, NAMI Nights offer a space to connect, reflect, and be inspired.
NAMI Broward also works with local businesses to promote mental wellness in the workplace. Through the StigmaFree Company initiative, organizations can lead with compassion and take meaningful steps toward supporting employee well-being and reducing stigma. It’s about creating a workplace culture where mental health matters.
Looking ahead, the community will come together for NAMIWalks Broward County on Saturday, October 4th at Nova Southeastern University. More than a walk, this signature event is a celebration of hope and solidarity. Every step honors the journey of those affected by mental illness and moves us closer to a more supportive, stigma-free future.
