The Health Foundation of South Florida presented the Broward Community College Foundation with a check for $48,500 to continue its support of individuals attending nursing programs offered at BCC’s Center for Health Science Education.

Of the award, $45,000 will go into nursing scholarships, and $3,500 into professional development programs for nursing department faculty.

“With this check, Broward Community College, through the BCC Foundation, has received a total of $97,000 from the Health Foundation of South Florida to help educate our future nurses,” said Edie Pearson, executive director of the BCC Foundation. “This year, there are 18 grateful BCC students receiving this scholarship.”

“From meeting with scholarship students I have heard that without the financial support they would not have been able to follow their dreams of becoming a nurse and helping and caring for others,” Rosario said. “All had their financial struggles and with the lack of funds out there, scholarship programs such as this one made their pursuit of a nursing career possible.”
