Hospice by the Sea, Inc. (HBTS) was awarded a $30,000 grant by Health Foundation of South Florida (HFSF). The grant will be used in the implementation of the next phase of a state-of-the-art Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system at HBTS.
The funds will be used to support the next phase of the EMR project, which involves supplying hand-held voice and data devices to the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) members of the hospice team. Hospice by the Sea considers CNAs integral members of the hospice teams, generally providing the most frequent and personal contact with patients and their family members. Their primary duty to provide personal care to patients affords them an excellent opportunity to identify changes in the patient’s condition. This phase of the EMR project will improve communications by the CNAs with other team members.
