Naples, Fla. January 3, 2024 – Healthcare Network, a nonprofit organization working to ensure primary medical care is accessible to everyone in the community, regardless of job or insurance status, announces the appointment of Jaimenee “Jaime” Khemraj MD, MBA, as its new chief medical officer (CMO).

Dr. Khemraj (pronounced KEM-raj) brings more than a decade of Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) experience to her new role, having recently served as the CMO for a FQHC in East Harlem, New York, overseeing 30 providers and managing 80,000 patient visits annually. She succeeds Dr. Corin DeChirico, who served in the position for five years before stepping down earlier this year.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jaime Khemraj to our leadership team as Chief Medical Officer,” said Healthcare Network President and CEO Jamie Ulmer. “Her extensive background in health care and commitment to our mission make her an ideal fit for this crucial role. With Dr. Khemraj at the helm, we are confident in our ability to grow services while continuing to provide exceptional care to our community.”

In this role, Khemraj will be responsible for developing clinical leadership and engaging physician and non-physician practitioners to drive the success of the clinical practice while improving standards in care. She will oversee a medical team of 175 individuals, including doctors, nurses and medical assistants, working in 20 practices throughout Collier County.

In addition to her responsibilities overseeing providers, Khemraj will lead the Family Medicine Residency and Pediatric Dental Residency programs. These strategic initiatives underscore Healthcare Network’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of health care professionals.

Furthermore, Khemraj will be at the forefront of additional programs, including the FSU Postdoctoral Psychology program in Immokalee. She will also manage clinical rotations from various school health care programs throughout the region. This expansive role highlights her dedication to fostering collaboration and enhancing health care education within the community.

Khemraj’s distinguished career includes her recent tenure at Settlement Health an FQHC, where she launched a comprehensive population health program focusing on managing high risk and rising risk populations, created an East Harlem clinical collaborative with strategic community health partners, and strengthened communication and collaboration with Mount Sinai Health System and Metropolitan Hospital.

Khemraj received her master’s degree in business administration from Rutgers University in New Jersey and her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in West Indies, Grenada. She holds dual undergraduate degrees from Rutgers University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology in biology, botany, psychology and philosophy, with a minor in Spanish.

“I was looking for a chief medical officer position where I may affect change,” Khemraj said. “I am committed to strong professional and interpersonal relationships, so that we can create a shared vision for managing the future of health care.”

As Healthcare Network’s CMO, Khemraj will define the overall clinical vision and direction, provide medical oversight, expertise, and leadership, and ensure the delivery of affordable, quality health care services. Her responsibilities also include the development and implementation of innovative clinical programs, collaboration with strategic business partners and serving as the medical representative of Healthcare Network to the broader community.
