HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Miami recently celebrated National Rehabilitation Week, capping off a 5-day celebration with an exciting community event. Over 100 guests joined HealthSouth Leadership Team, physicians, therapists, nurses and staff to celebrate the lives changed and independence regained. The event was also an opportunity to honor patients who have faced overwhelming physical and mental obstacles and the dedicated healthcare professionals who provide expert care every day.
Guests listened to an inspirational message by popular Cuban singer and stroke survivor, Hansel Martinez. Hansel then treated everyone to a special musical performance that brought the crowd to its feet. Representatives for several local elected officials also joined the festivities, including the Mayor of Cutler Bay, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and State Representative Rene Garcia.

Throughout the evening, guests dined on delicious cuisine and perused over 35 resource booths representing health-related organizations, business associations and civic groups, as well as many local businesses
Councilwoman Peggy Bell presented CEO, Elizabeth Izquierdo with a Proclamation celebrating National Rehabilitation Week. Councilwoman Sue Loyzelle thanked HealthSouth Miami for hosting a very successful Lunch and Learn for over 60 local seniors. Another highlight of the evening showcased Daniel Pedreira, Congressional Aide from the office of Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen who presented Elizabeth Izquierdo a flag that was flown over the Capital Building on 9/11/12 as a token of appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the rehabilitation Team and HealthSouth Miami.
