Dr. Beth-Ann Lesnikoski is a dedicated breast surgeon and patient advocate. She has been the Medical Director of JFK’s Breast Institute for the past seven years. Time and time again, she has demonstrated her dedication, leadership, professionalism and compassion towards her patients, colleagues and staff.
Dr. Lesnikoski’s dedication can be seen throughout her career. Establishing and overseeing the Interdisciplinary Conference and Clinic at JFK’s Breast Institute, Dr. Lesnikoski, along with a multitude of interdisciplinary specialists discuss each patient’s case in depth, ensuring that the best plan of care will be met. Going the extra mile, she ensures patients and families are well educated regarding all treatment options, simplifying the navigation through the healthcare system.
Dr. Lesnikoski educates her medical staff on the latest research and protocols for breast imaging, risk assessments and breast cancer treatments. Always looking for innovative alternative options for her patients, she taps into community resources to help assist with testing and treatment funding for the underprivileged.
As a leader and JFK’s Surgical Residency Associate Program Director, Dr. Lesnikoski is a role model and mentor to her colleagues, staff and interns. She is known to be warm, understanding and descriptive, always taking the time to explain why she has come to a medical decision and encouraging open dialogue.
Involved in many clinical trials and research through the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Lesnikoski is a volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, where she offers her expertise and time to educate students, patients and physicians in the most advanced approaches to breast care.
Dr. Lesnikoski has a strong interest and expertise in quality and innovation in healthcare. She is invited to speak around the U.S. because of her experience in developing interdisciplinary breast and cancer programs throughout her career. She has been a surveyor for the American College of Surgeons National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers since 2010.
Commitment to community is another reigning theme for Dr. Lesnikoski. She has been honored by the Palm Beach County Medical Society as Project Access Surgical Physician of the Year in 2012, for her outreach work to the underserved community. Dr. Lesnikoski also facilitated the opening of the first Palm Beach County site for the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program for low income women. Dr. Lesnikoski serves on the Board of Directors for The American Cancer Society’s Florida Chapter and she annually travels to Washington D.C. for the American Cancer Society Light of Hope Campaign to speak to members of congress regarding cancer treatment funding.
