Special honor is part of Tenet Healthcare’s annual recognition program

March 10, 2021 – Hialeah Hospital announced today that Mayda Cruz Soler, Infection Control Preventionist has been honored by Tenet Healthcare as part of its annual recognition program. Mayda has been named a “Tenet Hero” for her incredible contributions in 2020.

The Tenet Heroes program celebrates those individuals who make a meaningful impact within their respective communities that goes above and beyond their daily job responsibilities. Nominated by fellow colleagues, Tenet Heroes exemplify the company’s core values and key tenets of its Community Built on Care.

Mayda is recognized as a Tenet Hero for her commit to our patients and for being a team player.  The commitment that she showed to patients in such a challenging year has been extraordinary.
Mayda has been front and center in Hialeah Hospital’s response to the COVID pandemic.  One of the many contributions that Mayda made early in the pandemic was an evidence based COVID guide that outlined operational processes to ensure compliance with CDC and Tenet guidance.  This resource became the authoritative source and was reviewed with and adopted by local fire departments who came to consult with Hialeah Hospital on their own response.  At the beginning of the crisis, when the State mandated that several local assisted living facilities transferred their patients to Hialeah Hospital, Mayda once again stepped forward as the primary point of contact with the ALF administrators as they had questions about their patients and how best to protect their remaining patients.  In the midst of the crisis, when the State surveyors came to validate Hialeah Hospital’s infection control plan around COVID, they described the work of Mayda as best practice and took examples to share through out the healthcare community.

A Tenet hero is someone who makes a signficant different in the lives of people they come in touch with personally.  In Mayda’s case, because of the systems she developed and deployed, she has made a difference for untold numbers of people throughout our community and certainly should be considered a Tenet he

“Mayda has inspired us through her actions to make a positive and meaningful difference in our community,” said Michael Bell, Chief Executive Officer.  “We are grateful for Mayda efforts, selfless nature and commitment to compassionate care particularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are proud to work alongside her.”
