Hialeah Hospital proudly announces the opening of the new Senior Care Emergency Room. The Senior Care ER at Hialeah Hospital offers focused care for senior patients and is outfitted with technology and equipment to increase patient comfort and provide greater aid for those patients with visual or hearing impairments. Hialeah Hospital has joined forces with NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders), a national program to improve care for older hospitalized adults. Among the first phases of the program, Hialeah Hospital nurses and emergency room physicians underwent extra specialized training to care for the elderly.

The new Senior Care ER rooms underwent a quarter of a million dollar renovation to provide a more comforting emergency room experience for senior patients. Some of the highlights include: new slip resistant wood flooring, softer lighting, landscape/artwork lighting, thicker mattresses, sound resistant rooms, handrails, and more. Additionally, Hialeah Hospital has hired a fulltime dedicated patient liaison who will oversee the patient experience to ensure full continuity of care. The new Senior ER also compliments the newly remodeled ER waiting room.
