March 25, 2024 – Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician employed group of more than 130 physicians providing services throughout Broward County, has added Robert Gioia, B.S., D.O., DDS to its team of dedicated primary care physicians at the group’s Wilton Manors office.

“I am delighted to extend primary care services to the Wilton Manors community,” said Dr. Gioia. “I look forward to building strong relationships with my patients and providing comprehensive and compassionate care to meet their healthcare needs.”

Certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine as an HIV specialist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Gioia has a deep-rooted interest in preventative medicine, sexual health, LGBTQ+ health and HIV medicine. He prides himself in leading a healthy, active lifestyle and provides patients with advice on how to modify their own lifestyles to improve their health.

Prior to joining Holy Cross Health, Dr. Gioia was a primary care physician at Chen Senior Medical Center in North Lauderdale. Previously, he served as a family physician and assistant clinical professor at Spectrum Health Medical Group in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Michigan State College of Human Medicine in Grand Rapids and East Lansing, Michigan.

Dr. Gioia graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing and completed a family medicine residency at Wellspan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. While in medical school, he received the Robert Piccinini Endowed Scholarship and Canadian Initiative Scholarship, which are awarded to Canadian students who are excelling. He also received the Silver Award in recognition for volunteering more than 50 hours in one year and was inducted into the Sigma Sigma Phi Osteopathic Honor Society. Dr. Gioia also has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and diploma in honors standing in physiology from University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Gioia has always enjoyed making patients smile. Before pursuing family medicine, he was busy telling patients to open wide, filling cavities and performing root canals. He had a flourishing career in dentistry for more than a decade. With a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in hand from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dr. Gioia had a private dental practice in Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario, Canada.

Still looking to further his education. Dr. Gioia is currently pursuing a Master of Health Administration at Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business in Boca Raton, Florida. Poised to graduate in December 2024, he plans to leverage these skills to step into leadership roles that drive positive change in healthcare access, delivery and quality.
