As Holy Cross Health celebrates 70 years of serving the healthcare needs of the community, the hospital has elevated its cardiothoracic surgery program to the highest level with the addition of two internationally recognized cardiothoracic surgeons.
Leading the cardiothoracic surgery team is Kushagra Katariya, M.D., FACS who was named medical director and chief of cardiothoracic surgery, and Marc Gibber, M.D., who has assumed the role of surgical director of the intensive care unit.
Most recently, Dr. Katariya was with Tenet Healthcare’s Palm Beach Health Network Physicians Group at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, FL. A milestone career accomplishment was returning to his home country of India where he started and led a group of hospitals performing larger numbers of cardiac surgeries than most hospitals in the United States.
Previously the Medical Director and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Baptist Health Bethesda Hospital in Palm Beach County, Dr. Gibber is thrilled to work alongside Dr. Katariya to elevate Holy Cross Health’s cardiothoracic surgery program. The specialty spoke to him when he was in medical school and training because the field touches so many lives.
